The Syrian Company for the storage and Distribution of Petroleum Products 'MAHRUKAT' is considered to be one of the most important companies of the public-sector, and of Economic and service nature in the Syrian Arab Republic . Mahrukat company has been entrusted to play a leading role in providing the country with the different kinds of Petroleum Products to the consuming sectors in Syria , and also is assigned to procure all the requisites to perform such jobs like transportation, storage and distribution of Petroleum Products - either local or exported. Mahrukat transport, store and distribute the following products: Gasoline (all kinds), Gasoil, normal Kerosene, Aviation Kerosene, Asphalt, Coke, Fuel oil, Improved gasoline, Light hydrogenated Naphta, Achziline and White Spirit. Mahrukat also carries out Marketing of Mineral oils produced by Mineral oils Blending Factory of Homs Refinery , and procures needs of Mineral oils and greases, which are not produced by said factory, to all parties of public sector. - The company procures the greatest portion of petroleum products locally from (Homs & Banias) refineries, but have to import the other needs thereof via Petroleum Marketing Department (SYTROL) , at the Presidency of Prime Ministers. Mahrukat plan for year 2008 aims to achieve sales proceeds estimated to amount /187/ Milliard Syrian pounds, with current sale prices of pet. products inside Syria. - Mahrukat company carries out the performance of her jobs by means of investment and commercial plans, as well as by (annual) labor forces: Such plans are assured to be in line with the economical, social and service developments that Syria is accomplishing in different fields. - Mahrukat currently invests a pipeline net, the length of which exceeds 1000 KMs (of different diameters), and it is expected that the length of this pipenet would exceed to become /1310/ KMs by end of 2008 after investing ( Adra Ezraa ) 10" pipeline (140) KMs Length, and (Homs Adra) 18" pipeline (175) KMs which are meanwhile under execution. - The company has warehouses for the storage of petroleum products, the current capacity of which is /1.625/ Million M3 that covers the need of all the Syrian cities, this storage Capacity is estimated to reach /2.098/ Million Cubic meters by end of year 2008, after investing the petroleum products tanks currently under execution at (AL Rakka, Damascus International Airport, Aleppo International Airport, Daraa and AL- Sweeda). - The company has also a fleet of semi-trailer trucks for the transportation of Aviation Kerosene to the airports, in addition to oils and greases warehouses, stations for shipping of petroleum products by trucks and trains, pumping stations on pipelines and a number of fuel stations as well as other vital essential facilities and utilities. - Mahrukat makes the best efforts in order to expand the scope of its activities and installations within the available possibilities, so that to provide and secure the needs of all sectors for petroleum products on a continuous basis and thus, to be in line with the requirements of progress and development that Syria is going through in different productive and services fields, in addition to Automation of work and information technology being widely adopted. - In order to protect environment and public health, Mahrukat had transferred the consumption of gasoline from leaded into un-leaded during a time schedule already started in /1998/, and by thus, a 100% of un-leaded gasoline is being distributed since /2004/, knowing that the company has lately installed floating roofs for all gasoline aerial tanks in order to prevent evaporation and air pollution.

MAHRUKAT most important projects for year 2008 investment plan 1- Construction of (Homs adra)/18/" pipeline, /175/ KMs Length, with terminal tanks at (Adra and AL domair sites), with a capacity of /150000/ M3, and the relative accessories. 2- Construction of Adra Izraa /10/" pipeline, /140/ KMs Length with terminal tanks, with a capacity of /270000/ M3, and the relative accessories at (Darra / Izraa, Sweeda / Oraika) cities. 3- Constructions of new tanks for petroleum products in (AL-Rakka, /200000/M3 capacity, in Aleppo Airport, /5000/M3 capacity, and in Damascus Airport, /4000/M3 capacity) for storing JA-1. 4- Construction of gasoil, fuel and other products tanks for refueling of ships at Latakia and Tartous ports. 5- Construction of stations for refueling Aircrafts at Airports in (AL-Kamishli, Palmyra, Der Azzour and AL-Mazzeh) successively. 6- Construction of fuel filling stations in: Latakia (2sites), AL-Hasaka, Der-Azzour, AL-Rakka, Dara, AL-Sweeda and AL-Qunaitra. 7- Automation of Administrative and Accounting business Systems in the company (resuming execution of the second stage of the project). 8- Construction of a joint building to the company. 9- Automation of Adra warehouses aiming to develop and automate work system therein. 10- Construction of Asphalt tanks in Homs, with /20000/ MT capacity. 11- Renewal of the existing Central Laboratory of Mahrukat Company, for analysis tests of petroleum products and Mineral oils and greases. 12- Construction of warehouses for storing Mineral oils and greases, so that to meet the company's requirements in Syrian cities.

The labor force currently working for Mahrukat company is /5670/ employees, and this number is expected to reach /5990/ of different specialties in 2008 plan. During the last years, the technical staff of the company has significantly developed as with regard to scientific efficiencies; and now, Mahrukat has a big team of Engineers and graduates of universities, namely in Economics and Law, and of technical& industrial Institutes, those are counting the major percentage of the total number of Mahrukat team.
